A visit to Vesuvius is well worth-while and undoubtedly provides a fascinating experience. The Volcano of Naples soars over the Gulf and dominates the landscape with its unmistakeable conical shape and his undoubtedly the most famous and the best know ever since antiquity. The appearance of Vesuvius today is hence the result of its successive eruption phases and the sum of the debris accumulated over the centuries. The differents eruptions have wiped out whole towns situated along the mountain's flanks and obliterated vast cultivated areas, especially vineyards which, thanks to the fertility of the soil produce excellent wine.
Departure from hotel/meeting point to reach the car park of the Volcano (1.000mt) along a steep footpath leading up the slopes of the "Great Cone", it takes about 30/45 minutes climb to the summit of the crater (1.165mt) and free time for discover with an Alpine Guide all the information about the crater and for admire magnificent panoramic views of the Gulf of Naples.
