Something about Ravello...

This most hidden village of the Amalfi Coast, set like a precious stone between the green and the blue of the landscape, amazes for the particular atmosphere, calm, elegant and quiet: If you visit it after stopping in the most chaotic Amalfi or in the crowded and worldly Positano, you will almost feel like you have moved away from the Amalfi Coast. Here, in fact, tourism is more elitist: you walk slowly through the streets adorned with flowers and you can appreciate the beauty of the place, striking for the combination of the atmosphere of the alpine landscape and its gardens, decidedly Mediterranean, colorful and fragrant. During the summer the town hosts the Ravello Festival, an important musical event, which brings the best of international and world music on the impressive stage of Villa Rufolo. Hence, the name "City of Music". This beautiful terrace by the sea invites you to meditative walks, calm and tranquility. Here you will walk through pleasant streets that almost always lead to some vantage point, giving you that dose of sudden wonder, which forces you to linger to better enjoy the moment of beauty present. An exercise that everyday life often pushes us to postpone, to make room for a thousand commitments, thoughts, the rush to complete the eternal list of things to do. But here it is natural to stop and breathe. Moreover, the charm of the City of Music has seduced over the centuries many writers and travelers "in love with beauty", including Gore Vidal, who arrived in 1948 and fell in love with it to the point of never breaking away. In love enough to go back six months a year. But the writers of the Bloomsbory circle were also captivated. And here would be to make a long list of names, but, for the sake of practicality, we will limit ourselves to quoting Virginia Woolf, Forster, Lawrence, who together with others met at the radical cenacle of Villa Cimbrone, at the court of Ernest Beckett. All these intellectuals have left traces that you will find during your walks, when your eyes will rest on some plaque dedicated to one of them. Ravello will surprise you for this: an irresistible combination of culture, beauty and poetry, without neglecting the music that animates the summer evenings, in a location, such as Villa Rufolo, which amplifies the emotions.
